SABA-DC's Book Club Presents: An Evening with South Asian Actor and Author Maulik Pancholy

SABA-DC is excited to have Maulik Pancholy - known for his roles in various shows including 30 Rock, Weeds, Whitney, and Sanjay and Craig - join us on November 5th to discuss his novel.  His debut novel, “The Best at It” is about a gay South Asian American boy coming into his own.  The book addresses various important issues affecting diverse youth, particularly as they navigate being first generation Americans, such as: bullying, fear of rejection, relationships with family members, friendship, anxiety, and mental health.

Following a welcome reception, a Q&A with Maulik will be led by Cohen Milstein partner Kalpana Kotagal, the civil rights and employment lawyer who co-wrote the inclusion rider - a contractual provision designed to strengthen diversity and hiring practices in Hollywood - that Frances McDormand spoke about in her 2018 Oscars acceptance speech.  Q&A from the audience regarding the book will follow.

Attendees are encouraged to read Maulik’s book before the event, which can be purchased online and in bookstores starting October 8!  This event is co-sponsored by APABA-DC and Desis for Progress.

When: Tuesday, November 5, 2019 (6:30pm Welcome Reception; 7pm-8pm Q&A)

Where: Sterne Kessler, 1100 New York Ave. NW, Suite 600
